CEP 882- Seminar in CEP - David Wong
Course Description: A course that looks at different fields in Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education incorporating inquiry projects in order to enhance learning. The inquiry projects were fun and educational. Dr. Wong's courses are always organized real well that I feel I get a lot out of them.
ED 800 - Concepts in Educational Inquiry - Steven Weiland
Course Description: A course involving students in inquiry research through readings and their own self discovery. Students make their own reflections upon their own learning and teaching practices. This course didn't have any weekly deadlines so it was a little difficult for me to stay on track at first. But once I got used to the concept of no deadlines I felt I really excelled. The assignment that stands out the most was when we had to watch the movie Whale Rider. I really loved the movie and liked the assignment where we had to discuss the culture presented in the movie.

TE 849 - Methods and Materials for Teaching Children's and Adolescent Literature - Bevin Roue
Course Description: A course using different techniques to evaluate and use various genres and elements of literature in the classroom. This course focuses on how teachers evaluate reading as readers, not just as teachers. This was one of my favorite courses during my time in the Master's Program. It was interesting to look at myself as just a reader and not a teacher. I also loved finding new ways to teach literature by actually discovering them as I completed assignments.
Example of my work: Literature Autobiography
TE 865 - Teaching and Learning K-12 Social Studies - Lynn Fendler
Course Descriptions: A course focusing on the purpose for teaching and learning social studies. This course focuses more on how to develop citizenship, social science reasoning, and content knowledge with students, than teaching Social Studies classes like History or Geography. This was a surprise for me because I thought it would focus more on the actual subjects that I teach in Social Studies. However, it was quite useful to look at the social aspects related to citizenship.

Spring 2013
ED 870 - Capstone Seminar - Matthew Koehler
Course Description: A course that has Master's students reflect upon their different learning experiences throughout the online Master's Program. Students create an online portfolio to showcase their work. Students also participate in online disscussions with assigned group members. I am pleased that I will have something to show for this course when it is complete. Most of the courses I have taken during the Master's Program taught me new ideas to incorporate in my teaching. My students get to see this, but that is pretty much it. It's great that I have a portfolio out there for other people to look at and hopefully enjoy. I look forward to adding more throughout the years in order to keep my portfolio up to date!
